Poverty & Under Income
India is the world's largest democracy with a population of 1.19 billion. Of this, 34 percent live on less than US $1 a day, and 80 percent on less than US$2 a day. With 47 percent of children underweight, India has severe levels of child malnutrition, ranking it third in the world. The future of rural India, where the highest concentration of poverty prevails, depends on overcoming enormous challenges in health, education, nutrition, population and environment. Women bear primary responsibility in every one of these areas.
Around the world, millions of people eat two or three times a day, but a vast majority of people in India eat only once. And, now, many are denying themselves even that one meal to ensure that their children are fed. These families are already suffering the effects of even more severe malnutrition, which inevitably will be their children's fate as well.
Your Donation of Rs 365/- or more will ensure at least one square meal to 10 families living in abject poverty.
