Who we are:

  • A non-profit organization began itself with a non-formal education centre at Banjhikusum a Juanga tribal hamlet, in 1982 by Montfort Religious Brothers under the Dioceses of Sambalpur, Orissa.
  • The basic philosophy of this organization is "Serving Fellowmen is Worshiping God" with Motto of creating “awareness and progress" to make the people masters of their own destiny by working together and achieving it with their fellow beings.
 

History:

  • Samajik Seva Sadan started its activities in 1982 with a Non-formal school under a KUSUM tree in Banjhikusum hamlet of Mahisapat by an Adivasi Lady named Ms. Veronica Dung Dung.
  • By the year 1985 it had spread to 16 nearby villages with Non-formal Education and Health service.
 

Mission:

To promote, facilitate, conduct and co-ordinate development activities in professional and scientific manner aiming at the sustainable development specially that of the Tribals and Dalits in Target Area.
 

What we do:

  • SSS supports the running of the Hostel by all its revenue as well as donation from well wishers and friends as well as a small contribution from the parents.
  • Propagation of Ferro Cement Technology was introduced by Samajik Seva Sadan.
  • Samajik Seva Sadan (SSS) has been running a Girls Hostel since 2002.
  • It conducts ayurvedic and naturopathy propagation.
  • Through women empowerment program they have taken up different Income Generation Activities to become self-reliant.
  • Through vocational training program 5 young men were trained on carpentry and 2 were supported for tailoring.
